I’ve heard fans discuss the topic of Scully being immortal, now does this episode prove that Scully is indeed immortal. I mean the weird immortal guy Alfred Fellig takes a bullet that hits both him and Scully. He realizes Scully is hurt badly with maybe a fatal wound, so maybe he takes his own life to save Scully, plus she heals rather quickly at the hospital. Does this mean that Scully becomes immortal after getting some type of physical or mental transfer from Fellig?

That guy Ritter is one lucky son of a gun that Scully lives because Mulder would have taken the guy out with his bare hands.

Milagro - Agent Scully falls in love but that's obviously impossible. Agent Scully is already in love.

Remember in Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, Scully asks him how she's going to die and he replies mysteriously, "you don't." Then this episode comes along. I think it's pretty awesome.

I love this episode so much, I really believe it to be the most underrated gem in the whole nine years the show was on the air. Gilligan, who at this point was more famous for his comedic efforts like Small Poatoes and Bad Blood, I think delivers the most beautiful piece of drama here, a well made mystery that deals with some pretty heavy themes (life, death, immortality, the need to die because simply it's something that needs to be done and how living forever is a horror in itself) but doesn't batter you over the head with it's somewhat grim story. Even more brilliant is Gillian who shows once again why she was probably the best actress to grace television screens anywhere in the world during the 90's. The final fifteen minutes of the episode, which is nearly entirely devoted to Scully and Fellig is a masterclass in writing and acting and an example of The X Files at its very best. The extended scene between Anderson and guest star Geoffrey Lewis is wonderful and I'm always amazed that Lewis was never nominated for an Emmy because he's wonderful, understated and subtle he brings nuances and sympathy to a character that doesn't necessarily warrant it.

Overall it smells like a masterpiece to me.

MF Luder, I could not agree MORE! Pure masterpiece. And a shining example of why Vince is my favorite X-Files writer.
