The 35 Greatest TV Duos of All Time

The 35 Greatest TV Duos of All Time

Postby GillyDreamer78 » January 9th, 2012, 12:45 pm

Friendship drives so much of the emotional core of a TV show that scores of shows have led with it in the title: Think Starsky and Hutch, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Will & Grace, Cagney & Lacey. None of those pairs made our list, but we have both staples in television history and some new characters that have already surpassed expectations. Take a look and see if you have a relationship similar to any of these.

What a great article! Thanks for posting, GillyDreamer! Of course the anal part of my brain wonders of the writer ran out of steam - 35's sort of a funky number. They could have gone to the usual 50 without running out of couples....

Here's a fabulous couple not mentioned that (1) were a "commercial" couple, not a series staple, and (2) they represented a product most members won't remember. But the spots were exceptional, with great chemistry & timing. The actors had to create T-Shirts with slogans to "prove" they were not married - to each other: the Poloroid spots with James Garner (Rockford Files fame) and Mariette Hartley. Look them up on IMDb - very interesting careers. And the commercials were better than most sit-com promos.

Great article; thanks for posting, GD!

I too have to wonder why the writer didn't compile more. Surely there's plenty of more TV pairs? Simon and Simon, Batman and Robin, Mork and Mindy, Kirk and Spock, or other ones they mentioned at the start of the article would all be appropriate for such a listing!

Milagro - Agent Scully falls in love but that's obviously impossible. Agent Scully is already in love.
