Adding a pic to a post

Postby lostinlove » July 7th, 2011, 1:09 pm

How do I get a little Mulder/Scully pic to go beside my posts, is there somewhere on site I could go to add one please? Be gentle with the instructions , as I'm not very technical! Thanks in advance! thank]

Okay for the banner at the bottom.

1. go to user control panel
2. Click on profile
3. Click on edit signature
4. Click on [img].
5. Place photo between [img][img].
6. Click submit button

Lostinlove, okay... and some more help...

The signature line will show up below each of your posts. SA88 has provided instructions for that. (Thank you, SA88!)

However, I'm thinking that you'd like a picture, to the right of your posts, like the one I have that says "Cheers". I'm not technically savvy, either and had to have another phile make that picture for me. Anyways, just like SA88 said for making changes to the "Signature" line, use the Control Panel. There should be a tab on the right that says "Edit Avatar". Select that. From there, I think you get the chance to add a picture as your avatar.

Please let us know if you need more help!

The trick is that there is a maximum size of 150 X 150. This is pretty small!

You can resize an image to fall within that range. I find that using flickr or photobucket is easy for resizing, plus it has the added benefit of providing a URL for the image.

Try this: User Control Panel --> Profile --> Edit Avatar --> Then there is a place that asks you for the url of your image (I think that is the second line?). Then paste in the image url for your picture and click submit.

The good news is that once you have it done once, you'll know how to do it from here on out, or you can leave yours forever like I have, lol!
I've seen life on this planet Scully, and that is exactly why I am looking elsewhere.

Hello all! Thanks for all your helpul posts, but it seems, I'm going to be 'photoless' afterall! My pics of M&S are in my own file, I don't have photo bucket or anything, now my friend thought she may be able to resize something from there and post it here, but thinks now, it can't be done, so I'll just have to keep gazing at all your lovely ones! Thanks anyway!

lostinlove, I asked some of the other mods about this. I know you might have a certain picture in mind, but how about trying to link with one of the pictures from our picture gallery. You can find that gallery from the main news page.

It's just a suggestion. Give it a whirl if you feel up to it.

Hi again! That's the perils of me having to fly in and out of here, I didn't know there was a pic gallery (stands in corner, with dunce's hat on!) I shall certainly try that over the weekend, thanks again! :woo:

I just tried adding a banner, but was told it was too big (even though it was from a very small image). Any hints or advice?

Also, some other pictures I posted seem to only show the left side of the picture (with no way to scroll over and see the whole thing). Does anybody know how to make the pictures so the whole thing can seen?

The best thing to do is to resize the photo in photobucket, should be about 600 x 350 or even less, then post it on the site.

Thanks for that, SA88. GillyDreamer helped me out, but that's good advice for those of us needing to resize pictures.
